Daddy, Daddy Cool. Finding a Fabulous Father’s Day Gift.
Buying gifts for men always seems to take a bit more thinking. I’ve got two gifts to buy this year. One is for my amazing Dad. He is one of those people who would do anything for anyone, and I am lucky to be able to call him my friend too. He is also quite easy to buy for. He’s appreciative of gifts that truly mean something, ones that link to a memory or ones that are truly thought about. He still has a water colour painting I did for him when I was about 7 (I vowed to be an artist when I was a grown up, which, if you could see my drawing skills now you see I’ve not moved past my ‘talent’ at that age…) and he’s got it framed in his kitchen. He genuinely loves it. He’s also hugely house proud and has a few Duck Barn products already, namely one of our large wooden ducks (Gerald), a wire weave fairy lamp, the skinny mugs and an egg run in his kitchen. Being outdoors is where he is most happy, and as he is currently reorganising his garden, I may treat him to a lantern to use on the patio with his new outdoor table and chairs and a fire pit because (and I know I am playing to that stereotype), what man doesn’t love playing with fire?!
The second gift I have to buy is from our boys for my husband Paul. He’s a little trickier than my Dad. One of the wonderful things about working from home (thank you Tracy), is that Paul usually sees the products that I am uploading to Duck Barn and, when he sees something he likes, he lets me know with a not so subtle “Ooooh, I like that,”- so this year I am getting him one of our super stylish cement doorstops (which if I’m completely honest is also a gift for me!) and a matching fire pit, so he and my Pa can swap notes!
